Combat Frizz Tips

Are all your hair beauty products labeled as "anti-frizz"? Do you spend your time brushing your hair in vain hopes of straightening it? Have you tried everything against frizz, but nothing seems to help? Don't panic; here are some tips to get rid of frizz once and for all.

To eliminate those pesky curls once and for all, discover our anti-frizz tips.

Combat Frizz: It Starts with Shampoo

Washing your hair every day promotes the appearance of frizz. Instead of subjecting your hair to shampoo, conditioner, and blow-dryer every day, alternate with co-washing. Wash your hair with conditioner only each day for a gentler, hydrating wash that helps limit frizz.

Wash Your Hair with Cold Water

While the idea of cold water running down your back right after a delightfully hot shower may be chilling, cold water has the power to tighten hair strands, leaving them softer and smoother.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar balances the pH of the hair, and its detangling properties give the hair a silky-smooth feel. Mix one part vinegar with one part water and rinse. In cold water, of course.

Hydrate Your Hair

To nourish and hydrate your hair, rely on vitamin E and glycerin. Ensure they are present in your hair products and are among the first ingredients on the list.

Dry Your Hair with a Microfiber Towel

A classic towel absorbs all the water from the hair and accentuates frizz. Instead, use a microfiber towel to speed up drying time and significantly reduce the appearance of frizz.

Use the Hair Dryer Diffuser

If the hair dryer comes with accessories, there's a reason! All curly hair should be dried using the diffuser (the round tip with plastic prongs) for even drying that preserves curls. Without a diffuser, the air breaks the curls, giving them a disheveled and frothy appearance.

Straightening Brush, an Anti-Frizz Ally

No need to use a device that rises to extreme temperatures to tame frizz. If you want to smooth your hair and neutralize it, a heated brush is enough! It heats much less than a straightening iron and still tame the small rebellious strands that give a frothy effect to the hair. Brush a few smoothing strokes along the lengths, and you're done!

Best Treatments to Eliminate Frizz

Coconut oil, the anti-frizz ally, thanks to its incredible moisturizing properties, coconut oil is the preferred ally of both skin and hair.

Once a week, apply a few tablespoons of coconut oil as a mid-length mask to the ends (avoid the roots if you don't like the oily look) and tie your hair into a bun. Leave it on for at least an hour or even overnight for intense hydration. Wash with shampoo and rinse normally.

Choose products that are 100% free of sulfates and alcohol responsible for frizz. Sulfates and alcohol in some products dry out the hair.

Use boar bristle hairbrushes to get rid of frizz. Boar bristle brushes help spread natural sebum better from root to tip and thus limit frizz.

After styling, use a toothbrush (now called a "hair toothbrush") and brush along the length to smooth the frizz. The toothbrush helps limit the amount of spray. Let's admit it, we always apply too much.

Use a wide-tooth comb. The more you touch your hair, the more you accentuate the frizz. Invest in a wide-tooth comb for combing wet hair. Detangling will be effective with fewer gestures.

Check the weather. Humidity equals frizz, no more, no less. In case of unexpected rain, always have a smoothing serum (or a pocket-sized moisturizer) in your bag to minimize the frizz effect. And if you only have hand cream in your bag, don't worry: take a little product in the palm of your hands, rub them together, and lightly pat, without pressing, on the hair.

Anticipate treatment for sweat. When exercising, the salt in sweat dehydrates the hair. To overcome this problem, apply a moisturizing treatment to your lengths before the session.

Invest in satin pillowcases. Cotton pillowcases are excellent, but this material accentuates the friction between hair and pillow and causes frizz! On the other hand, with satin, the hair slides and becomes smoother until morning.
