Perfuming Hair: Good or Bad Idea?
Perfume, like the sun, dries out the hair. There is an art and a way to perfume! Forget the classic perfume on the hair, which is a bad idea. But why?
Hair Dries Out with Perfume
Few women don't dream of having beautiful and healthy hair paired with an exquisite perfume! Unfortunately, even though shampoos and conditioners perfectly serve their purpose, their scent is short-lived. Hence, perfuming the hair is tempting. However, it's a bad idea! Perfumes contain at least 80% alcohol in their composition. The effects can be very damaging to the hair and scalp, causing itching and dandruff. If you have sensitive skin, don't risk it! You might take inspiration from major stars like Audrey Hepburn, who sprayed perfume in front of her and then walked into the "cloud." These solutions are not very satisfactory, although there are many effective and non-dangerous alternatives to perfume the hair.
Choose Alcohol-Free Mists and Avoid the Smell
To avoid ending up with dried and abused hair due to the alcohol present in perfume, use non-alcoholic mists specially designed for hair. Leading names in perfumery offer their best-sellers such as Angel, No. 5, Allure, Coco Mademoiselle, Chance, Miss Dior, or J'adore for hair. For those loyal to their favorite perfume, this alternative is ideal, although it is a bit expensive. You can also opt for two-in-one products, perfect for all women. More and more cosmetic brands offer perfumed hair oils, which also provide specific actions—they can protect, nourish, and add shine.
Turn to the Natural!
For fans of green and natural products, perfuming hair is possible! Essential oils like ylang-ylang, jasmine, lemon, bergamot, and tangerine. Flower hydrosols should not be overlooked. They are obtained by distilling plants during the essential oil extraction process. Orange blossom, rosemary, or mint hydrosols often meet the expectations of beauty enthusiasts. Vegetable oils are also perfect, especially coconut oil, which is one of the most suitable oils for hair fibers. It often works wonders and smells great.
