5 Habits to Make Your Hair Shine
A sign of good health is the shine of your hair. Discover our tips to make your hair shine without damaging it!
We all dream of having shiny hair! It might seem like the work of hairstylists and photo editing to achieve this result, but there are real solutions. You too can dazzle with a ray of light landing on your hair. The key to shiny hair is to have enough light to reflect more light and, therefore, have a mirror-like effect.
For this, some simple tips should be adopted.
The Importance of Hair Care
The first step for shiny hair is the necessary daily attention. You should detangle every day to remove dead hair, knots formation, and anything that can break or damage the ends and lengths. At night, sleep with your hair tied to prevent it from tangling. Be careful not to tie it too tight if it's braided. It's not super sexy, of course, but it takes care and gives life: that's true beauty.
Shiny Hair is Hydrated Hair
Once a week, apply an oil, at least 20 minutes before shampooing. Since the mission of shampoo is to wash the hair to properly remove styling product residues, excess sebum, and dirt, they need to be nourished afterward. And this takes time, hence the interest in applying it well and letting it act for 5 to 10 minutes. Take advantage of this time for other care, brush your teeth, remove makeup (long-lasting makeup remover in the shower), or exfoliate dead skin cells from your face and/or body with a scrub (skin quality also goes through this).
Washing: Cold water has been a great ally. On the body, it provides a vasoconstrictor effect and helps tighten tissues. On the hair, it closes the scales, which will, therefore, be better able to reflect light afterward!
Drying: Heat, when too high, damages the hair. If your hair dryer has a "cool air" function, use it. It helps close the scales and prevent frizz. Gentler, they will reflect light better. A good idea for fine hair, as it also increases volume. Another important detail: the distance between the device and the hair, which should be fifteen centimeters.
Shine Vinegar: There are many brands on the market offering shiny hair vinegars (René Furterer, Klorane, Yves Rocher, Le Petit Marseillais). Applied after shampooing and then rinsed with a cold water jet (a point that differs according to the products, some without the need to rinse), this type of product allows you to soften, always with the aim of reflecting light better. It also facilitates detangling. Applied right after coloring, it is also a good way to fix the color and make it last. And if you can't afford or don't want to invest in a shiny product, make your own by mixing two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in a liter of water.
The Right Supply of Iron
Hair health is correlated with the level of iron. A deficiency is noticed right away! The hair becomes dull, despite the care taken. Do not hesitate to talk about it with your doctor to consider a cure. In parallel, adopt a good diet, rich in fatty acids (olive oil, sardines, salmon).
